The shipment of food to the United States is possible but subject to certain restrictions:
Food shipments must be correctly completed to indicate if any of the following statues may apply:
- For personal consumption or use and not intended for resale
- A gift
The American FDA (Food and Drug Administration) defines the shipment of foods as any shipments containing food, drinks, vitamins, chewing gum, or food supplements, intended for human or animal consumption. A shipment containing several non-food items and a single food item must be subject to the conditions of food imports.
